The Fireplace is in!

Well after lots of funny noises coming from the garage the Fireplace is in place! We both kept fitting it in both projects to see where it looked the best and it definatly was the Potter house because of the character of the cauldron. For some reason 3 of the houses we have bought recently have red rooms, and this is one of them, not really our choice but to change it means changing all the wall lights fitted etc so we have left it as it is as there is going to be so much put against the walls, eg. a dresser, 2 wall shelves, etc that not alot of wall will be showing and sometimes its nice to have a bright colour behind dark anyway.

John got the job of sanding, he made a pencil mark and went off to the garage. After about 20 trips ( not kidding ) back and foreward between the dining room where the house is and the workshop, he nearly had it right! We wanted it to fit in floor to ceiling with a tight fit, so it was a case of sanding it gradually so as not to go too far and then it be too loose a fit!
Got there in the end, lots of swearing! Second to last fit I was a bit scared as it was just TOO tight and as he wiggled it backwards I had visions of it snapping, so I persuaded him to go back for one last sand! Worked a treat and now its snug as a bug in a rug ( as my grandpa used to say!!) The pic dosn't do it justice, it looks fab. next we have 2 wall shelves to go up, and we have bought 2 lovely tables that will go in together to look like one huge kitchen table.
Want loads of veg, pots, pans, bowls, plates, jugs, barrels and sacks on the floor. Then we will hang lots of baskets of things, dried herbs, etc from the ceiling, we may beam the ceiling for this.
My friend Liz is going to make me some hanging animals, a rabbit, pheasant etc.
Looking good so far. My voice is still non existant and i think Johns could be gone by the end of the day as he didn't wear a mask while sanding!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
