Took a break from Sweeney today while we wait for the materials to continue.
While I got to work on a potion cabinet , John finished off the walls in the Harry Potter Potion Room.
As per a previous posting we used PVA and torn tissue all over the walls, and let it crinkle up to give the look of a rendered wall. After drying it was difficult to see if it would work but we gave it a coat of pale grey paint, then when dry , dry sponged it all over in a dark grey which catches the raised bits of wall beautifully . Then finished it off with a white dry sponged again in tiny places to look like lighter areas. We are really pleased with it!
Next i started popping bits in just to get an idea of the look of the room. So heres a few photos. The table and bench i made from balsa and pieces of plastic railings painted gold. This has 2 of Nikki's fab Potion boards, and some eggs underneath , plus a test tube rack bought on ebay and painted in glass paint.
The potion table is loaded with messy bottles and glass jars of overpouring mixtures and concoctions!
A small fireplace has a glass jar of 'Flu Powder' all ready and waiting and a cauldron made for me by Kat in one of her generous parcels!!! Lots more potions , some made by myself and others by the wonderfully talented Nikki Rowe.
There is a bench with more of Nikki's Potion Boards on. Tomorrow Ill take seperate pics of the potion cabinet with a description of the goodies.
Violetta the Potion Mistress is already taking in her new surroundings and getting used to where she would like everything to go . She is slightly blending in to the walls with her violet hair so she may be better placed in the Conservatory of unusual plants ....when it is finished, as Herbology Mistress, but for now we'll let her get the potion room spick and span and in working order for the arrival of any students!
Hope you all like it, cant wait to get some more things in and have a play around with where it shall all go. Then on to the next room...... Dumbledore's office or the grand hall?????????!

Definitely Dumbledore's office. What a fascinating place that was.
Fantastic! I love how the walls turned out. And you have such lovely detail everywhere. Wonderful room! :-)
