WOW WOW WOW!! Ara is an incredible craftswoman!
Do you remember I posted about our swap and Ara was making me 2 items, the first being the wonderful table for the Sweeney house. Well this is the second part of our swap, this incredible ,incredible Barber chair!
I am so delighted with it. I had no idea of how it would look as I asked Ara not to send me piccies as I wanted it to be a total surprise. It certainly was as it has turned out to be more fabulous than I could have imagined.
Not only does it look this good, it WORKS as well!! Yep it really works. With it came instructions as to how to insert the ' Pedal key' , a key that slots in and makes the back of the chair fall fully back so Sweeny's victims fall back into the trap door and down to Mrs Lovetts Lair!
The key is cleverly disguised as the chair pedal.
Here are pics of Sweeney with his chair and with poor Mrs Lovett as a victim until I can save the pennies to ask Julie from Bella Belle Dolls to make a Victorian gent for me!!
Alas as I took the photos, as carefully as I could I tried to postion the razor in Sweeney's hand and then a fatal injury, his thumb fell off!!!! Ahhh, dont panic dont panic, i can email Julie and ask her kindly if there is any way he can be mended????!!!!. So I tried the other hand, after all I had to get a good photo to show you all, then horror of horrors the same happened on the other hand!!!!!!!!!!
So Mrs Lovett now has 2 fingers for her first human part pie, but Sweeney is NOT happy that he was the victim!!!!! Not happy at all!!!! You can see the before and after shots!!
At any other time I would have bene mortified at this loss but the happiness at my beautiful chair dulled the pain a bit!! I dont know about you but I think Ara is a marvel, THANKYOU THANKYOU THANKYOU Ara, we love it. Sweeney is pleased as punch that he can soon begin his evil goings on.
Now the room is decorated, and I have the chair in place I can cut in the trapdoor area. I have nearly completed the trimmings of the chest for the next step by dear Julie. Then I can finish furnishing this room and Voila the Barbers is in business........oh just need a Barbers pole !!
It has been an absolute pleasure doing such a fun swap with Ara. I have plans for the next thing Id like to make her already, hope shes up for another one some time!!!!
Please dont worry too much about Sweeney, it will teach him a lesson, not to try and cut Mrs Lovett's throat!!!

Oh my goodness- Ara is a remarkable craftsman-isn't she? It is wonderful! How great is it that the chair tips back to the trap door too- how fun!! It does teach Sweeny right for trying to cut Mrs. Lovett's throat. I am sure Julie will be able to tell you how to fix him- she is an amazing artist also. I also LOVE the little pitcher and bowl- it is all looking so great!
OMG, what an absolutely AWESOME chair!!!! WOW WOW WOW!!! Ara is a true artist!!
LOL, Kate, I am LAUGHING with you as that sound so much like what I would do!!! I know Julie will have the answer for you, but question, I know the thumbs are SMALL, but did you find them? Save them? You could probably glue them back on :)

Hey Kim, Im tempted to make the drap door actually open now instead of just marking it out like a dummy door. It would be cool to see the dolls falling down into it.....mind you next time Ill probably knock a head off one, not just fingers lol xx
Marsha, I had to giggle too, and I think Julie did when I told her i found one thumb,but the other one went flying up in the air and is now goodness knows where!!!! I was tempted to restick it but I may have it sticking out of a pie now and it will be called the 'Sweeney pie', a reminder to him of what will befall him if he trys to cut of the head of his partner another time!!!!!lol xx

Oh this chair is fabulous and I am sure sweeney wil be very happy with his new arms soon , I have missed him so it will be nice for him to come for a visit :0) and of course mrs lovett will make a wonderful pie......you just have to make a sweeney pie !
