Another fabulous change in the Potter house is my new desk and chair made by the talented craftswoman Angela Downton of AMD Crafts. ( check out her ebay listings on http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/amd5758/ )
I found a picture on the internet of the real desk and then I drew a rather amateur sketch design drawn myself , together with approx sizes i wanted and colour etc, and Angela made it a reality creating this beautiful desk in a medium oak. Angela sells beautiful frets in various styles so I chose the one I figured worked the best and it came out exactly as i wanted! You can just see the front of his desk in this picture.

I love the tall chair , its much more dramatic than my previous comfy resin chair he had. Im not sure if I should give it a fancy seat cushion though, what do you think?
Dumledore is very pleased with his new additions, we love the fancy fret work. We are hoping to soon do another sketch of the bookcases for the long wall to match this furniture if Angela can find the time for us.
A huge thankyou to Angela for this superb work.
Now the fun part of filling it all again, will post a pic once Ive finished it next week.

Wow Kate the desk and chair are outstanding! I don't think it needs a cushion. Can't wait to see this room.

Kate, this is 110% perfect! The desk for Dumbledore is part Tudor chest/trunk and part desk and this is the very best I have seen! In fact I've been looking forever and not seen one! lol
I can't remember whether the chair has a cushion or not, but I think I might give it a red velvet one, but it looks fantastic on its own.
I gather it was a commission? I don't need a chair for his office, but I want one for Dumbledore for the table in the great hall and I need a desk for his office.
I'm gonna sound a big thickie now, but I didn't know you had Hogwarts too! lol They are outstanding! :o))

Thanks Victorai, I still cant decide! I do kind of like it as is! Once I get the big bookcase in and start filling that this room will be mostly done as I have loads to go in it xxx
Michelle, its for what I call the 'Potter house' my version of Hogwarts of course with my piddly Grand Hall that only is large enough for one long table! The kitchen is done and the potion room almost so Dumbeldores study is still to do. I am so chuffed as I took a picture of Dumbeldore sitting in his office, Im going to try and find it and add it to this post, and then drew my own design for Angela and she made this which is superb! Im hoping to design the bookcase to match! xxxx
what an awesome desk, it looks just like the one in the movies! Great workmanship too.

Thanks Marisa, Im so happy with it, and Angel's work is really top notch, Im always delighted and have several pieces of her work. Next the writing / book slope to go on the top i think! xxxxx
The furniture is superb! Absolutley beautiful! You are so lucky, Angela is really talented!
I thought red cushion too, but it does look so good on its own that maybe not. I don't know :)
Wow, that desk is amazing and you know I love those chairs from Angela ;0)I would personally put a cushion on it, a sort of tweedy/tapestry woven style fabric, with a dent where he has been sitting! If you make a cushion and fill it with rice, you can make a perfect bum shaped dent!!

Lorraine your like me, shall I shant I!!!! xxxxxx
Julia, that sounds cool! May have to leave a cushion to an expert like you though, I dont sew!!!! I love the idea of the bottom dent, we have one of those on our full size sofa, funnily enough where Emily sits!!!!! xxxx
¡¡¡¡Impresionante!!!! Un trabajo perfecto, Enhorabuena.
Besos Clara
Love the desk! And yes he should have a fancy cushion!:)
I love it!!! She did an amazing job. I know this because if you hadn't even mentioned Dumbledore I would have known this set was meant for him!! Wonderful! -ara
These are truly wonderful pieces Kate. So dramatic but strangely comforting and cosy.
They will look superb.
We need pictures of your Potter house !!
I've bought from her as well. Angela was always more than fair and her work is absolutely outstanding.

LOL, Kate. We have a botton shaped dent in our sofa too and it's mine with all this enforced sitting!! Bet poor Emily loved that comment ;0) If you send me the measurements of the seat pad, I will have a go at making you a little cushion over the next few weeks.

They are stunning Kate....i think I like the sound of a bottom shaped worn cushion..... would look good but also such a shame to hide anything...mmmmm i would get one for when i feel like it needs it and remove it when i dont...grief i would be there all day long :O)
