Our Not So Mini Christmas Gift, Beautiful Bella!

Well here she is the latest addition to the Whittaker Family!

Meet Bella, our beautiful new 'Mini'! But At 8 weeks old she is not so mini, shes actually quite a big girl already!

Bella is a Maremma Sheepdog, if your reading this in the US or Italy you will probably have heard of the Maremma more so than in the UK as they are a rare breed over here.
The breed comes from Italy originally so we chose the name for 2 reasons. One is means Beautiful in Italian and 2, because its one of my favourite characters from the Twilight books ( not the movies, cant stand the movie version of Bella, shes so morose!lol!)
And we call her Bella Belle too Julie if your reading this lol!

We travelled to get her yesterday and she was as good as gold in the car all the way back, all 3 and a half hours of the journey! We are still waiting for her to turn into a manic puppy,as at the moment she is such an angel, sleeps alot, plays beautifully with the children and slept peacefully in our room all night. She loves Lolas Christmas hat as you can see!

The children are delighted with their Christmas present! I have put off a puppy for a few years but they were desperate this year so I gave in and am so pleased I did as shes touched our hearts so much already!

She hid under the tree for an hour when she arrived as the 3 children were abit much for her but now shes used to them shes playing with them and loving it! I think its even safe to put some pressies under the tree as shes not making any fuss over it, only likes one particular gold bauble!

Im sure you will be seeing more piccies of her over Christmas as shes quite a poser! Loads of real minis to show off, just dont know when i will get the time, so much to do in so little time so please bear with me!!

Happy Christmas to everyone from the Whole of the Whittaker Family !!!!!!

Oh Kate, Bella is a beauty. I have heard of the breed. Being a Sheep Dog she will be very intelligent and will properly herd the kids up for you..LOL xxxx

They are a really good guard dog Debbie and very loyal and great family dogs . We spent so much time researching the perfect breed for our family and I really think we've found it!Your right too, already when they go upstairs to play shes walking round looking for them all, she wants us al together with her! xx

She's absolutely gorgeous I love her! I'm never owned a dog, just too much hard work, so I cats and lots of them. ;o))

Debie is correct Sheep Dogs are a very intelligent breed, the downside of having an intelligent animal is normally lots of mischief and naughtiness! They think up things to do that other more unintelligent breeds would never dream of doing! Lets hope she stays as good as she is now, otherwise John could end up taking her out for lots of walks! ;o) lol

Have a truly great time!

Michelle thats why Ive put it off, I wasnt keen on the idea with such a housefull of mischief as it was, but so far so good. Im sure she will get naughtier but Im amazed at her good behaviour! Shes not house trained but is learning so quickly and no accidents in the night which was a bonus! Johns looking forward to the walks to get some weight off he he! xx

Susan we think so! Shes very laid back for a pup , we are so pleased! xx

Nikki, yep they are all crowding her abit but Im sure the novelty will wear off, especially when it comes to walking her any distance! There were 2 bitches to choose from and she had her Mum Vienna's pretty face. I think John would have had 2 if they would both be this good! xx

Oh, how sweet she is!!! She's going to need a job to do! My niece has a herding dog and he gets very restless when he isn't "working" so I agree with Debbie, the kids will be her charges!

She sounds so mellow! Total opposite of Sophie who has chewed the cord on a fan, cable to the printer, cushion on a couch, Richard's favorite baseball cap . . . .:)

Bella is just a lucky girl to have a loving home and family!

xxoo

Marsha I knew youd love her! I suppose I shouldnt get a false sense of security as its early days but so far shes just not interested in things shes not given by us to chew! Wait a few weeks eh! She is a pretty baby girl and very loving, likes to sleep at your feet, and chew those may I add! xxx

She's beautiful Kate!!! I remember begging my parents for a dog when I was little and how thrilling it was when they finally said yes! Bet they're having a blast! You're lucky she likes the camera. Our newest one runs everytime I try to get her pic... little stinker! lol

Tara, the children love her to bits, they didnt want to go to school today, wanted to stay with her!xx

Victoria , she was supposed to be the childrens pressie but shes already a mummies girl much to Johns disgust he he! i think cos I held her on the long journey home she bonded with me and now wont leave my side, I love it! I spoke again to the breeder yesterday to make sure its normal to be this placid and she said thats the breed, very laid back!! xx

Ewa, thankyou we will, cant wait til she can start going out for walks, I love walking in the woods! xx

Hi Jamie, isnt she the cutest! Thats what John wanted, a dog that grows up with them! The lounge actually looks tidy as all the toys are upstairs in their rooms! So its quieter too! xxx

Hey Ara, she loves the camera! Going to be an expensive Christmas for John though as I really want a little camcorder to take movies of her as she grows up! xx

Hi Julie, the children love cats too, but neither John nor I have ever had a cat , but maybe one day they will persuade us to have one of those too you never know! xxx

Oh Kate, she's beautiful! :o) the children will have so much fun with her as they all grow up together. A friend of mine has husky puppies at the moment and its very very tempting, Im managing to resist, but if her pups were like yours I'd have no willpower at all!

Kate, she is beautiful and her name is perfect. You will all have so much fun with her :)Don't worry about her being placid, that will soon change when she has settled in LOL I remember coming home one day and my six month old puppy had chewed a whole bag of toilet roll and it was trailed through the whole house with her sitting sweetly in the middle of it!! We had her for 15 years and she was a darling, we all still miss her, 8 years and a new dog on. Have great fun with her :)

Wendie we looked into Huskies too but they were supposed to be quite dominating over children and quite overpowering with little ones so as much as they looked pretty we kept looking. But if you havnt got little ones then I dont think id resist either they are gorgeous! xxx

Julia, Im not going to get too complacent that she'll stay like this, apparantly come her teenage years she will be full of mischief! She slept last night from 10 and we woke before her at 6.30 panicking cos we hadnt heard a peep from her lol!xxx
